What is a detoxification program?
A cleansing and detoxification program is a series of steps taken in order to actively enhance the elimination of toxic wastes from your body that are creating, or have the potential to create bothersome symptoms and disease.

An exceptional cleansing and detoxification program that greatly improves your health, requires the ingestion of the highest quality nutrients. These nutrients include vitamins, minerals, amino acids, proteins, carbohydrates, fats and water. The detoxification program that I recommend, involves dietary changes along with taking therapeutic nutrients in the form of powders, liquids and/or capsules, as well as hydrotherapy, dry skin brushing and exercise. Quiet activities such as prayer, meditation or slow diaphragmatic breathing are equally as important during a successful detoxification program.

A cleansing and detoxification program in this day and age is vital in order to help you manage stress effectively and to achieve optimal health. A detoxification program will help you create a healthy body. This includes your digestive tract, cardiovascular system, lung function, urinary system, brain and nervous system, bones and joints, skin, immune function, and hormone regulating system. A detoxification program is vital to help you prevent disease and to facilitate an incredible sense of well-being and happiness. Based on over 25 years of experience in healthcare, I believe without a doubt, that an exceptional cleansing and detoxification program is crucial for both the treatment and the prevention of illness and disease.

The changes in health and overall wellness that many people experience following a cleansing and detoxification program is simply amazing. Detoxification and cleansing is like dumping the garbage waste products out of our body and mind. This leaves space and room for the opportunity to experience the opening of many doors in life for many people. I have seen lives transformed over and over again after people have completed a detoxification program. For example, I have seen new and healthy love relationships developed; sports that had been abandoned years before and thought impossible to return to, taken up again; a greater ease in the cessation of smoking for those who have struggled for years to quit; chronic relentless depression transformed into a joyful way of experiencing life; and yes, 'untreatable' illnesses reversed. With a detoxification program, it becomes easier to dump out the garbage waste, and make room for the magic that already exists inside of us.

Some people are not in tune with their bodies. I have had a few patients say that they experienced no changes after a detoxification program, yet after closer examination, I have observed obvious changes in these same patients: normal blood pressure after having been quite high, palpable thyroid nodules gone, greatly improved facial colour, and a brightness and sparkle in the eyes that was not there before, to name but a few clear improvements.

For others, doing a detoxification program is literally life transforming. For what symptoms and conditions? I'll leave that to your imagination. The sky is the limit if we see it as such.

NOTE: A cleansing and detoxification program is not a 'quick-fix' approach to healthcare. A detoxification program addresses imbalances at the cellular level. How quickly you respond to a detoxification program depends on many factors: your own beliefs regarding your body's ability to heal, your dietary and exercise lifestyle habits of past and present, the presence of existing illness in your body, to name but a few.

What is dry skin brushing?
This is a technique that stimulates skin circulation, removes dead skin cells, improves blood and lymphatic circulation, and helps remove toxins excreted via the skin.

In size, our skin is the largest detoxification organ in our body and often gets overlooked during a detoxification program.

Most of the cleansing and detoxification programs described on this site includes a hydrotherapy shower and dry skin brushing. Dry skin brushing is done after this type of shower. The purpose for doing this is to stimulate your blood circulation, your lymph system and your immune system to mobilize toxins in order that they be excreted.

With dry skin brushing, you use a natural-bristle dry skin brush (purchased from your local healthfood store) to brush the entire skin of your body, front and back. Use a quick circular motion and brush from the soles of your feet up along your legs toward your trunk (front and back) continuing toward your heart; then proceed from your palms along your arms (front and back) toward your heart; and finally, brush your head (front and back) and neck downward toward your heart continuing the circular motion. Always keep your brush dry.

Who is this webpage really for?
This page was designed for people like you: self-starters who embody a high level of self-responsibility toward their own health; people who just require some solid, helpful information to take the ball and run with it in order to improve their own health tremendously. I have often thought, that if the majority of people were motivated to do a detoxification program 4 times yearly (once every season), we would see dramatic reductions in the following: office visits to healthcare professionals, hospital admissions, admissions to institutions, disease rates, stress-related burnout, pharmaceutical use, violence statistics and suicide numbers.

How often do I do a detoxification program?
For a bowel detoxification program , twice per year is very useful for disease prevention in most people.

For a metabolic liver detoxification program, I'd recommend 4 times per year (spring, summer, fall, winter, especially after the Christmas/New Year's Holidays). This is one of the best ways to start off a healthy New Year.

Detoxification Precautions
I do not recommend a cleansing and detoxification program for young children, or for pregnant or lactating women. If you have a serious illness, take numerous medications or lose weight easily, I recommend that you seek the advice of a healthcare professional while undergoing any detoxification program. It is much more useful to address other difficulties and imbalances that may be present, prior to attempting any detoxification program that I have suggested. That being said, following the advice in: Can I detoxify without paying any money? is helpful for everyone.

I believe in detoxifying gently. You may or may not know that in cleaning out your body and mind, just as in cleaning out a dusty and dirty house, the dust can start to fly when the initial house cleaning begins. The metaphorical dust is the detoxification symptoms you may experience while cleansing. They can include fatigue, irritability, headaches, nausea, gastric discomfort, cramping, bad breath, loose stools, body odour, feeling hot, feeling cold, insomnia, sleeping too much, joint pain, muscle pain, itching, skin problems or any other type of symptom. Most people experience none of these detox reactions with the detoxification programs I have suggested, except for the advanced detoxification progam. If you do experience any of these symptoms, they are typically short lived and are a wonderful sign that you are dumping out the garbage waste from your body. If you have any detox reactions, ensure that you are drinking at least 10 glasses of purified water and do the detoxification program much more slowly than what is recommended, i.e. decrease the dosages of the products as indicated.
